Stage Left Lux were recently approached by Betel - a local charity which helps people who have fallen on hard times to recover. They are in the process of renovating a house in Derbyshire to become a refuge and recovery centre and were in need of some help with the interior finishes. Stage Left Lux have been able to help by donating three small chandeliers which will be installed in the home, but we wanted to do a bit more. We had a flash of inspiration and decided to create a small wooden heart shaped lamp as a symbol of hope. We have made a feature lamp using timber cut into a heart shape which creates a soft glowing light and a silhouette of a heart. This is a style of lamp that we are able to reproduce and replicate, and we have made it available to purchase in our online lighting shop as a made-to-order lamp design. We are pleased to tell you that we are hosting an exhibition of unique lighting designs by Stage Left Lux at Banks Mill Studios in Derby. All of the lamps that we have in our exhibition are made from upcycled and repurposed materials, objects that could have potentially found their way to landfill but they have been saved by us and reimagined and transformed into creative feature lamps. Our exhibition is split into three unique zones for you to explore. Zone One Pack your bags and get ready to travel on an adventure and explore the unique world of Stage Left Lux upcycled lighting! Zone Two Visit the Mad Hatters Tea Party - follow in Alice's footsteps, go to the left and explore some unique hat and helmet themed lighting creations, as well as a selection of quirky lighting ideas made from upcycled teacups! Discover how everyday redundant objects can be repurposed, upcycled and reimagined from junk to funky by to giving them a new purpose as amazing feature lighting to bring joy to your space. Increasing recycling by just a few percent could divert hundreds of thousands of tonnes of waste from landfill. Next time you go to throw something away, think about if it could be used for something else. Maybe reuse an old Pot Noodle pot for storing paint brushes in, or a tin can as a plant pot! Our Mission is to repurpose, reuse and restore In 2020, Stage Left Lux took on the mission to contribute towards reducing the amount of waste that we collectively send to landfill, by repurposing old unwanted objects into something new.
