Can we turn a soda syphon into a lamp?

 

Yes we can! We were recently asked by a customer if we could turn an old soda syphon into a lamp. We drew up plans for the soda syphon to give the customer the option to choose which idea they preferred best.

 

We carefully dismantled and cleaned the soda syphon, we gave the customer the option of running the power cable either through the nozzle or out of the base of the syphon.

The customer preferred the option with the cable coming out of the base, meaning we had to drill a hole at the side towards the bottom of the soda syphons metal body.

​

We obtained a chrome bulb holder which was in keeping with the chrome finish of the metal parts of the syphon. We mounted the bulb holder on the part where the gas cannisters would have originally been fitted. This gave the bulb a funky 45 degree angle and using a vintage tear drop shaped bulb to mirror the shape of the gas cannisters which would once have been there.

The overall effect was a very cool retro lamp perfect for the home bar.
