For two weeks a talented bunch of local Derby and Derbyshire based creatives will be bringing you a range of locally made products in our pop-up shop. What will be in the shop? The blend of industrial copper combined with large steel cog bases and large size gives a rugged yet so elegant look which will make an eye-catching addition to any room. The conical shades add a classic touch which perfectly directs the light downwards making these the perfect reading light or desk lamp. Upcycled vintage telephone lamp Upcycled vintage telephone lamp This old-style vintage phone was one up-on-a-time the shop phone at Antiques in the Quarter collectibles shop in Derby, we have lovingly transformed it into a beautifully quirky desk lamp. Complete with flexible gooseneck arm which allows the light to be positioned how you'd like it, perfect for reading adding light to your working desk space. Aurora borealis floor standing bottle lighting feature Aurora borealis floor standing bottle lamp This is one of the largest lights we have ever made, standing at around one metre tall. Constructed using a timber frame giving a rugged towered look but with a traditional softness. The lamp features an array of coloured gin bottles arranged in a rack-like design, with the full spectrum of the rainbow. Concealed colour changing LED lights are hidden inside the wooden frame which dance and create an awe-inspiring, dazzling lighting display, casting enchanting patterns onto its surroundings emulating the northern lights. Pineapple jars industrial bespoke table lamp Pineapple jars industrial style lamp A beautiful, twisted blend of beautiful cranberry coloured glass jars in the shape of pineapples mounted on an industrial style copper pipe and steel frame giving a unique steampunk inspired finish. This wonderful lamp would make a great addition to any space with its staggered double lights arranged in a staggered fashion. The glass jars feature a cross-hatched moulded pattern which cast amazing patterns of light onto the surroundings creating wonderful, patterned shafts of light. Our lights are anything but ordinary. Stage Left Lux was born from a desire to create unique feature lighting and trying to do the right thing for planet too. Our aim is to design and make creative lighting designs using upcycled and repurposed materials and to save waste from landfill by restoring, fixing and repairing broken and damaged lamps and light fixtures. Where did the name come from? The first lamp that we restored was an old theatre light that was found in a local antiques shop, I took the lamp home, rewired it and before long people were contacting me asking if I could make lamps for them. The business name had to be just as dramatic as the theatre light that started it. I toyed with lots of different ideas and eventually settled on Stage Left, this is a play on Stage Left-Overs reflecting our upcycling and repurposing operations. Stage Left is a theatrical term meaning the audiences right-hand side as they look at the stage. Lux is a Latin term which is used to describe the brightness of light. And coupled with our slogan - Lighting Your Way - this means you can have it your way, we can work with you to design and build a bespoke custom-made theatre light to suit your style.

Assemble is hosted by Derby Museum of Making , the Silk Mill industrial museum. The home of the industrial revolution and the site of the world's first modern factory. Join us and a whole host of local creative talent for a fascinating day out! Saturday 16th November We attended this event last year and it was amazing! The Ethical Christmas market will be at Bustler near Derby Train Station. The Ethical Christmas Market promotes locally produced handcrafted items with a focus on sustainability. Here you will find crafts, homewares, fashing, jewellery, gift ideas and more produced by local craftspeople and artisans. Friday 22nd, Saturday 23rd & Sunday 24th November Visit Stage Left Lux on our home turf! We love nothing more than a day out at our local antiques centres, Derbyshire has lots of amazing antiques shops, junk shops and antiques centres - these are some of the places which we class as our ''wholesalers!'' Unwanted items transformed into quirky upcycled lighting Antiques centres are perfect for us to be able to pick up some great vintage items and some quirky objects to upcycle into lamps. A great way for us to turn unwanted items into wonderful upcycled lighting treasures. Last week we took a trip to Heanor Antiques Centre and found an amazing haul of goodies. Here's what we found... Our selection of vintage goodies from Heanor Antiques Centre in Derbyshire Some carved wooden bowls - we have some ideas up our sleeves for these, keep checking back to see what we will do with them! An old cast iron clothes iron - these make amazing table lamps. (we currently have some available in our online lighting shop ) A beautiful red vintage telephone An antique brass blowtorch And our absolutely favourite is this beautiful industrial harbour lantern light fitting. We've already started to transform our haul of vintage goodies into lamps, here's what we've done so far. Red vintage telephone upcycled lamp Of course the old retro rotary telephone has been converted into a very delightful table lamp, complete with a globe shaped vintage light bulb. This upcycled telephone lamp is now available to purchase in our online shop. Upcycled brass blow torch lamp We have lovingly converted the brass blow torch that we found into a beautiful table lamp. This lamp is perfect for use in any room and would be a thoughtful gift for an engineer. See our upcycled blow torch lamp in our lighting shop. Industrial steampunk inspired floor-standing lamp This is our favourite lamp made from the items we found whilst out bargain hunting. This twisted blend of heavy industry combined with steampunk flare. We took this old industrial harbour lantern and created an adjustable base out of copper pipe. The base is adjustable allowing you to alter the height of the lamp, perfect for use as general ambient room lighting or as a reading light. See our industrial standing lamp in our online shop. Stage Left Lux, Giving the gift of Light As part of our on-going campaign to gift lamps to local businesses we made this gorgeous Gothic themed Table lamp for Jack In A Box shop in Ripley Derbyshire. Jack In A Box are a gift shop based on the main High Street in Ripley Derbyshire. The shop is situated in a beautiful old building which used to be Barclays Bank, they sell a fantastic range of gifts, games and fantasy themed goodies such as anime and steam punk and gothic gift wares! They also stock a variety of boardgames and host games nights in their gothic themed games room which is inside the old bank vault! The brief Ben who owns the shop contacted us and asked if we could make a lamp in a gothic theme which would fit in well with their games room. Here's what we created We handcrafted a gothic arch shaped lamp base from solid rustic pine and added a bulb holder mounted on a wooden plinth. We then used a real candle which we hollowed out and melted with a blow torch to create a realistic melted candle effect, wired using vintage style braided cable and to top it all off we added a flickering lightbulb to add extra drama to the gothic style!
