Tree branch ceiling light by Stage Left Lux for bespoke feature lighting handmade in Derbyshire using upcycled and repurposed materials. Rustic tree branch ceiling lighting fixture Stage Left Lux was commissioned by one of our regular customers to design and create a unique ceiling lighting fixture made from a rustic tree branch. Bespoke ceiling light chandelier made from a rustic tree branch We were contacted again by one of our customers to design and commission another bespoke feature light for their home. Last year we were asked by Steph to create a unique standing lamp by repurposing an old shotgun , this time Steph was looking for a unique ceiling light for her dining room. The brief: A nice rustic finish chandelier style ceiling light, with lamps suspended from a tree branch Wired using chunky vintage style braided cable in dark purple Antique brass light fittings a variety of unique and unusual vintage style lightbulbs in different shapes Steph had been able to find a tree branch that she liked the look of, after discussing various different options mounting and wiring and for the overall design, I provide steph with colour options and different styles of cable and bulb holders to choose from, as well as options for the colour of the ceiling rose accessories and mounting chain and hooks. After agreeing the colours and style, I set about researching many different lighting suppliers and wholesalers to find the perfect accessories and parts to make the ceiling light. I was able to assemble the pieces together and visit Steph at her home to install the lighting fixture for her, due to the organic nature of the branch there were several different ways that it could have been installed we were able to further discuss options whilst I was on-site and adjust the light to meet requirements during the installation. I was even able to stick to every specific of the brief and provided Steph with an array of beautiful lightbulbs in a variety of unique styles, just as she had been hoping for! The end result was a stunning unique addition to the home in-keeping with the character and charm of a country cottage with a uniquely elegant and modern twist. The finished chandelier casts beautiful patterns and shadows onto the surrounding walls and ceiling, and the vintage style bulbs give a soft warm glow. This will certainly be a major talking point during Christmas Dinner! Stage Left Lux was approached by a customer who owns an old antique Singer Sewing Machine to see if we could convert it into a table lamp to give it a new purpose and to provide a feature for her art studio. Bespoke Singer sewing machine converted into a steampunk style lamp Taking your old unused objects, generating ideas and making unique feature lighting. Stage Left Lux was approached by a customer who owns an old antique Singer Sewing Machine to see if we could convert it into a table lamp to give it a new purpose and to provide a feature for her art studio. The customer is an artist involved with embroidery and upholstery. The brief: Industrial steampunk Use lots of popper pipe Keep it simple Two lights at various positions Cause no damage to the sewing machine I explored several different options and sent the customer various sketches and ideas, the customer came to my workshop to discuss the designs and we agreed a final look and feel for the sewing machine lamp. I was able to add a copper pipe frame with two lamp fittings which were positioned at different positions to highlight different areas of the sewing machine and compliment its industrial heritage with the steampunk style of the copper pipe and brass fittings. Because we were fitting two lights, I used one unswitched bulb-holder, a switched bulb holder with a further external switch on the power cable, this enabled the option of having both lights lit or just one of them, enabling different lighting effects to be achieved. I was able to attached the copper pipe frame to the sewing machine using holes that were already in the machine, causing no damage apart from one hole which needed to be filled in order to allow the mains cable to leave the lamp to the plug. The end result was a really cool industrial steampunk lamp which highlights and celebrates the history of the antique singer sewing machine. At Stage Left Lux we take great care in ensuring that the lamps that we produce are of high quality, fit for purpose and most of all safe for you to use. We will be taking some additional measures to ensure that we continue to comply with the new rules. The manufacturer Stage Left Lux are the manufacturer of all of the products that we supply. All of our products are handmade by us in small quantities of just one or two at a time, making every lamp and home accessory that we create totally unique. Where a product is reconditioned, repaired or restored we will take on the role and responsibility as if we were the original manufacturer. This includes table lamps, floor lamps, ceiling and wall lighting features. We also restore and rewire vintage light fittings and lamps and occasionally we will produce small home accessories. Our products are mainly produced by upcycling and repurposing old objects to create one-of-a-kind and bespoke feature lighting. However we will only ever use new electrical components such as cable, switches, lampholders, plugs and fuses and these are purchased from reputable UK and European sources and we ensure that these components comply with the relevant British Standard, UKCA or CE safety regulations. All of our products are put through a series of tests before they are made available to purchase to ensure that they are safe to use. Safety Testing All of our products undergo a series of tests and quality checks to ensure that they are suitable and safe to use. These checks and procedures include: 1) The use of new electrical components that carry British Standard, UKCA or CE kitemarks to ensure that they meet the required standards. 2) Professionally wired to current UK electrical and wiring regulations and ensure the correct type of cable is used, the correct fuse size and that safety features such as an earth connection is in place as required. 3) Portable Appliance Testing to ensure that the wiring is connected properly and that the wiring insulation and earth connection are functioning correctly. 4) Our lamps receive a topple test to ensure that the base is sturdy and unlikely to fall over under normal use. 5) Once our lamps pass these checks and tests, they are fitted with a safety label which provides information regarding safe use the correct bulb type to use, fuse size and voltage details. 6) We will produce a product specification for each product and this will be retained by Stage Left Lux for a period of at least 10 years and made available on request. EU representative As all of our lamps are fitted only with a UK standard three-pin electrical plug it is not currently our intention to sell directly into the European Union, we are currently investigating the need for an EU representative and if it is deemed necessary their details will be shown here in the future.
