The Collaboration Choir

Wylde Oake Artistry
The work of Wylde Oake Artistry can be summed up in one word – mushrooms! Worked from my home studio I use primarily, but not exclusively, soft pastel and pastel pencils to create highly detailed botanical representations, conceptual imagery or more abstract impressions of fungi that incorporate unexpected colours and more loosely worked marks.
An inter-disciplinary process includes seeking out, and photographing or/and sketching fungi within a 10-15 mile radius of Derby in combination with self-led research, that has its foundations both in the artist’s BA (Honours Textiles) and MA in Fine Art (2023). The resulting work speaks of underlying narratives that portray the beauty often-hidden kingdom whilst exploring the interconnectivity of species and the self-imposed boundaries, that exist between nature and the human body, due to contemporary distractions within a disrupted world.
